What to Wear for a Family Photoshoot in Sevenoaks
You've just booked your family photoshoot which is super exciting! But then comes the question every mum asks herself at least three times before the big day: "What are we all going to wear?"

Here are my favourite styling tips to help you feel confident, comfortable and completely yourselves in front of the camera.
Keep It Simple and Coordinated — Not Matching
Resist the urge to dress everyone in identical outfits. Matching can look a little stiff in photos and honestly, it's a lot of pressure to find four of the same thing in different sizes!
Instead, think about a colour palette two or three soft, complementary tones that work together. Warm neutrals like cream, camel, dusty pink and sage green photograph beautifully, especially in the natural light of Sevenoaks' parks and woodland locations.
Comfort is Everything — Especially with Little Ones
If your baby or toddler is uncomfortable, they'll let everyone know about it! Choose soft fabrics with no scratchy labels, and avoid anything too tight or fiddly. The same goes for you, if you're tugging at your outfit all session, it will show in the photos.
Wear something you feel genuinely lovely in. A flowing dress, your favourite jeans and a beautiful top, whatever makes you feel like you.

Large logos and busy prints can be really distracting in photos and draw the eye away from the most important thing your beautiful family. Stick to soft textures and simple patterns if you want something with a little interest.
Think About the Season and Location
Sevenoaks is stunning all year round, from the bluebells in spring to the golden leaves of autumn. Think about where your session will be and dress accordingly. Layers are your friend, a beautiful knit cardigan or a cosy wrap can look gorgeous in photos and keep tiny ones warm between shots.
A Note on Shoes
Yes, I notice shoes! Trainers can look a little out of place with an otherwise soft, elegant outfit. Simple pumps, ankle boots or even bare feet for babies look lovely and feel timeless in photographs.
