Newborn Photographer Tunbridge Wells: A Beautiful Session at The Royal Wells Hotel

As a newborn and family photographer working across Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks and the wider Kent area, I'm always on the lookout for locations that make a session feel calm and unhurried rather than like another thing to organise in those exhausting first few weeks. One of my favourite spots to photograph newborns in Tunbridge Wells is The Royal Wells Hotel, and I wanted to share why.Why I love shooting at The Royal Wells Hotel I first started working at The Royal Wells Hotel through The Mum Club run by the lovely Lizzy, and I fell in love with the place. It sits up on Mount Ephraim, just a short walk from the town centre and The Pantiles, in a beautiful Victorian building full of character. For newborn sessions specifically, I hire a private area right next to a beautiful bright window. Soft, natural light is everything in newborn photography, it's gentle on delicate newborn skin and gives images that timeless, airy feel without needing any studio lighting equipment. Having a dedicated space within the hotel means we get all the benefit of that gorgeous light without me having to bring lighting kit, and without you needing to tidy or prepare your own home.

Parking is also genuinely easy, which might sound like a small thing, but if you've ever tried to get a newborn, a toddler, and all the associated kit out of a car for a session, you'll know it isn't. That alone makes a big difference to how relaxed everyone feels before we've even started.

What to expect from a newborn session at The Royal Wells Hotel - Newborn Sessions are relaxed and entirely baby-led. A few things to know: Newborn sessions work best within the first two weeks for that sleepy, curled-up newness, though I happily photograph babies up to around 12 weeks too. You don't need to bring or prepare anything beyond yourselves, the space, light, and a few simple wraps or blankets do the rest. Parents, siblings, and even grandparents are welcome to be part of the session, there's plenty of room.We work at your baby's pace, with breaks for feeding and settling whenever needed.

Getting there - The Royal Wells Hotel is at 59 Mount Ephraim, Royal Tunbridge Wells, TN4 8BE, an easy, level walk from the town centre and The Pantiles. There's parking available on site and several municipal car parks nearby on Crescent Road, Monson Road, and Church Road if needed.
